It took a little longer than anticipated finish the firmware updates, but SUG@R is back online. There were no changes to the software stack on the system. Also, your data on all our filesystems, even on SHARED_SCRATCH, should be intact.

The SUG@R cluster will be offline on 28th October, 2009 between 5AM and 5PM. We will be performing network maintenance and firmware upgrades on the cluster nodes.

The queue has resumed and the machine is open for Users. The maintenance was successful and we have fixed $HOME, $PROJECTS, and $SHARED_SCRATCH. No data was was lost on any of the filesystems.
As always, please report any anomalies through the helpdesk.

During today's maintenance, we were able to fix the slowdown of the HOME and PROJECTS file systems by replacing the unstable storage hardware.
Unfortunately SHARED_SCRATCH seems to have a larger and much more complex issue. Several hardware problems were identified that made access to it very slow. The storage vendor has overnighted parts and we hope to resolve the issue once they arrive.
We decided to not release the system tonight because it is heavily degraded and is not functional. We will update you as we make progress.
