2008 Ada System Maintenance Details

Ada is scheduled to be offline on August 21 for 48 hours (possibly extended to 96 hours as needed) for a routine system update. The following is an evolving list of currently planned updates. Please review the list below. If you experience any problems following the updates please notify the Help Desk at 713-348-4357.

System Updates:

Install latest Active Manager update supplied by Cray.

Activate 6 gigE ports in RCSG Storage Net enabling access to Panasas storage.
Deploy latest version of Moab with enhanced statistics and diagnostics.

Implement resource tracking for Matlab licenses on Torque.

Fix advanced routing issues with the login partition at boot time.

Coordinate Ada's network switch relocation with Rice network team.

Build and test Torque 2.3 (experimental job arrays feature).

Clear /lustre and fsck all OSTs.

Apply RCSG custom shell environment variables (similar to SUG@R).

Apply SUSE Linux system update.

Upgrade Linux kernel.
